They showed reduced impulsivity which enabled them to achieve a higher level of self-control for a better quality of life. Furthermore, it was concluded that animal-assisted therapy is a very effective treatment option for those who are facing problems with a dual diagnosis.

Many individuals may not be aware of animal-assisted therapy as it is a unique treatment approach. Oftentimes, animals are not allowed on any premises. Therefore, the thought of a pet in an office may not even cross an individual’s mind. If one has never had a pet one may not understand the health benefits that they do provide. An individual may find great comfort in cuddling a dog, petting a cat, walking a horse, or even sitting with a parrot!
